Use this recipe to create Silky Smooth Chocolate Ganache. Ganache is super versatile and can be used to cover an entire product or simply as a decoration around the edge of a cake. It not only makes your cakes and pastries more beautiful but it makes it more delicious as well.

Silky Smooth Chocolate Ganache bring drizzled over a cake

This recipe is so simple and only three ingredients but don’t let its simplicity fool you. It is so delicious and can change the look of a cake in an instant. You can drizzle it or whip it and use it as frosting. Scroll to the end of the post to see an example of one way this Silky Smooth Ganache. I have another recipe posted for Rich & Delicious Chocolate Fondue that is basically the same thing in different proportions so if you like this Silky Smooth Ganache, be sure to check out that recipe as well.

Pro-tips:

  • Cut the chocolate into small pieces. The smaller they are, the faster they will melt.
  • At first, it will seem like the cream and chocolate will never mix but I promise it will. Keep mixing with a whisk.

Yield:

Enough to cover the top of an 8-inch cake with a drizzle down the sides.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb Good Quality Dark or Milk Chocolate
  • 6 oz Heavy Cream
  • 1 tsp Butter

Instructions:

1. Pour the heavy cream along with the butter into a medium saucepot. Place over medium heat until almost boiling. Stir frequently to prevent scorching.

2. While the heavy cream is heating up, chop the chocolate into small pieces. The smaller the better as they will melt easier. Put the chocolate in a mixing bowl and set aside.

3. When the heavy cream is heated, remove from the heat and pour it over the chocolate. Let sit for a few seconds then stir making sure all the chocolate is melted. If all of your chocolate didn’t melt you can gently heat it on the stove over low heat until all of the chunks are gone.
